A 29-year-old woman from Cluj-Napoca gave birth to two boys and two girls on Thursday morning, reports NewsIn.
The birth took place at Cluj County Hospital, Gynecology Obstetrics Clinic I and was assisted by the director of the Public Health Authority of Cluj, gynecologist Florin Stamatian.
The work started on Wednesday, at 22.00, and the birth took place this morning, starting at 04.50 and ending with 05.26. According to Stamatian, all babies are in the incubator, because their lungs are not developed enough to breathe on their own, two of them are so small that they are in the same incubator.
The weights of the four babies range from 550 to 900 grams, giving birth at 26 weeks of pregnancy, which is the minimum time needed for the babies to have a chance of survival.

Because the Gynecology Clinic I does not have the necessary equipment, a ventilation device for newborns from the other maternity ward in Cluj, the "Dominic Stanca" Clinic, was brought. Babies will have to sit in the incubator until they reach the weight of 2 kg, according to gynecologist Florin Stamatian.
The new mother - who has no complications after birth - is on a second pregnancy, having a baby girl. She performed only at the second investigation with the ultrasound that will give birth to quadruplets, the first medical investigation showing the presence of three girls in the womb.
